George Rogers Clark High School, located in rural Central Kentucky, faces significant challenges due to the opioid epidemic, with 6 out of 10 students being raised by single parents, and a large percentage by their grandparents. In this environment, school sports become a vital outlet for students, offering a sense of belonging, teamwork, and personal growth.
Head Golf Coach Mike Rogers, committed to keeping students engaged through sports, reached out to Drive Fore The Future for assistance in starting the girls' golf season on a strong note. With tournament entry fees averaging around $400, fundraising is essential to cover the costs of clubs, bags, and apparel. This year, Coach Rogers also hoped to provide his team with umbrellas, towels, and golf balls.
Thanks to our partnership with Callaway, Drive Fore The Future was able to step in and contribute enough balls, umbrellas, and towels for each player on the team. While Coach Rogers mentioned they were well-equipped in some areas, the additional support with these items made a significant difference in ensuring the team had what they needed for a successful season. We’re grateful for the opportunity to help these deserving students and contribute to their growth and success on and off the course.
