At Drive Fore the Future, we are committed to breaking down barriers in the game of golf and creating opportunities for young people to thrive. We are proud to have supported the PGA REACH Georgia’s Her Shot program with a donation of 25 sets of clubs, in partnership with Callaway.
Launched on Juneteenth 2024, the Her Shot program, in collaboration with the Bria Janelle Foundation, offers six weeks of complimentary golf instruction to 25 girls of color between the ages of 11 and 18. Hosted at Stone Mountain Golf Course outside of Atlanta, Georgia, Her Shot provides an empowering environment where young women can develop both their golf skills and their personal confidence.
The program is led by female PGA and LPGA professionals who donate their time to teach the girls on the range, green, and course. After each lesson, participants have the opportunity to hear from inspiring guest speakers—often successful women of color in the golf industry. These intimate interviews, hosted by Bria Janelle (the in-arena host for the Atlanta Dream, Chicago Bulls, and Notre Dame Football), allow the girls to engage with these role models and ask questions about their journey in golf and beyond.
Each participant also receives a journal to document the lessons, reflect on weekly mantras, and take notes from the guest speakers. Additionally, the girls are gifted various items such as polos, balls, tees, ball markers, water bottles, etc., which not only enhance their experience but also reinforce the sense of community being built through the program.
Her Shot is dedicated to creating pathways for young women of color to succeed in golf and in life. By providing access to the game and mentorship from influential women, the program opens doors for new opportunities, while building lifelong skills that will serve the girls long after the program ends.
PGA REACH Georgia has ambitious plans to expand Her Shot in the coming years, adding more host facilities and additional sessions across the state. At Drive Fore the Future, we are proud to have played a part in this important initiative and look forward to seeing the lasting impact it will have on these young women’s lives.
