At Drive Fore The Future, our mission is to make golf accessible to young athletes by providing essential resources and support. Our partnership with Happy Valley High School began in the fall of 2024, when we supplied the high school golf team with new clubs, bags, shoes, balls, and gloves. This initiative aimed to equip both the high school athletes and set aside a few sets for the junior high program, fostering a continuum of support within the district.
Building upon this foundation, we extended our assistance to Happy Valley Middle School's golf team for their spring 2025 season. Recognizing the enthusiasm of the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders eager to participate, we provided 24 dozen golf balls to ensure they had the necessary equipment to practice and compete effectively. Additionally, an anonymous professional golfer and friend of the Drive Fore The Future foundation generously donated brand-new golf shoes for each of the 12 athletes!
The resilience of these young athletes is particularly commendable given the challenges they have faced. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Elizabethton and their community endured significant hardships, with the high school serving as a relief center providing supplies, showers, and recharging stations. While the schools experienced minor damages such as downed trees, nearby areas suffered severe destruction, with homes and roads completely devastated just a short drive away.
Coach Gene Renfro, who leads both the junior high and high school golf programs, has expressed profound gratitude for the support received. He noted that these contributions have been instrumental in providing the young athletes with a sense of normalcy and hope during challenging times.
At Drive Fore The Future, we are honored to play a role in empowering these young golfers and remain committed to supporting programs that foster resilience, community, and a love for the game.
