Drive Fore The Future Provides Glenville High School Golf Team With Over $20,000 in Resources, Contributing to City Championship Victory
Cleveland, Ohio – September 23, 2024 – In a remarkable display of community support, Drive Fore The Future has donated more than $20,000 in resources to the Glenville High School golf team. Located in inner-city Cleveland, Ohio, Glenville ranks among the top 20 percent of public schools in Ohio in terms of students who are eligible for free lunch based on household income, and has a graduation rate of just 59 percent. This donation offers students a valuable opportunity they might not have had otherwise, helping propel the team to an outstanding win at the city championship.
Devin Demaske, a Cleveland Metro School District teacher and longtime Glenville High School coach, recognized the potential impact of golf on Glenville students. Wanting to engage students in a sport often considered out of reach, Demaske reached out to Drive Fore The Future to see if it could help.
Drive Fore The Future delivered in a big way, equipping each player with new golf clubs, balls, shoes, polos, practice gear, and a state-of-the-art golf simulator. These resources proved instrumental in the team's success, ensuring the students could participate fully and thrive, regardless of financial barriers.
“The generosity of Drive Fore The Future has truly elevated our program,” said Coach Demaske. “It’s not just about the equipment; it’s about showing our students that people believe in them and their potential. This support is inspiring our team to aim higher, both on and off the course.”
Ryan French, founder of Drive Fore The Future, is set to attend one of the team's late-season matches, meeting with the players and celebrating the successes the season has brought to the Glenville team.
“We’re honored to support Glenville High School and provide these students with the resources they need,” French said. “At Drive Fore The Future, we believe in the power of golf to teach life skills and open doors for young people, and it’s been amazing to see that mission come to life with this team. Their championship win highlights how much is possible when young athletes are given the right tools.”
The partnership between Glenville High School and Drive Fore The Future is a shining example of how community support can break down barriers and create opportunities for students who may not otherwise have access to high-cost activities such as golf.
